Window Shopping in North Point Chinese Neighborhood
Intense gold statues of every subject imaginable. Personal favorite is the fat chicken sitting in the moon pie.
lizard liquor
Found in a liquor store at north point on the island of Hong Kong. I think I would have to drink a whole bottle of something like vodka before I could even approach the Lizzard Liqour which contains a whole once living lizard (among other things). Well maybe it isn't a terrible way to die being drowned in alcohol.
Margaritaville in the New Territories of HK
Outdoor dining in this little strip of Thai/Indian restaurants. One of our
favorites!
Chinese Marichi
Between Mah Oh Shan and Sai Kung is a row of GREAT thai restaurants where u
can sit outside and enjoy excellent spicy food and Marichi music. Where the
chinese guys are trying to sing spanish.. But the fun really starts when
you tip em and have them sing 'tie a yellow ribbon' in english. Ahhh this
is livn!

view from the peak
Not a great shot with my treo 650. This is the view from Victoria Peak in HK. There is a restaurant called
Cafe Deco up here. Passible food but great views. It is worth it to tip em for a good seat.
A nice steaming pile of Gow Gee?

So everyone around us speaks Cantonese. It really isn’t the language to be learning. I should learn Mandarin (it is more widely spoken etc) But Cantonese is what everyone speaks so it is easiest to practice.
Well I like these little
steamed dumplings called Jiaozi. The other day I wanted to be impressive so I asked for steamed ‘Gow Zee’, the people around me all laughed. It seems that I ordered steamed dog poop. The proper pronunciation is closer to “Gow Gee”
The Nespresso C250
I have been in Hong Kong now for a little over two months. The thing is, out in the New Territories it is hard to get a decent cuppa joe. Great green, white, red, and black tea. But if you are looking for a good cuppa joe or 'gasp' an expresso you gotta look. (or go down to central or TST).
I have learned that there is a very real phenomenon called ‘culture shock’ with defined stages such as anger, depression, and infatuation with a culture etc. What I have found is having access to good coffee helps one deal with culture shock...
So how can I get a good cuppa joe in the office, without a lot of work, without a lot of mess? Well I found it! After much
research on the internet I bought a
Nespresso C250. Not cheap but oh so worth it. It makes a decent cuppa expresso with crema and can froth milk for latte’s etc.
It uses these little coffee pods that you can toss away. And at the office it requires very little cleaning or matenance. WOOO HOOO!
Worker's Cups
This is a picture of workers tea cups in a Dong Guan China printing plant. I thought it was a cool picture. The place was really pretty nice. They were doing some Disney Books, and lately Disney got some bad press for using 'sweat shops' in China to assemble their books. I can say that this plant was not sweat shop, it was a very nice printing facility. As nice as some I have seen in the USA.
view from my morning HK walk
This is a cameraphone picture on the walking path in front of the service apartment at about 6:30 am. Jen and I are trying to walk every morning. The mountains and ocean are fantastic!
u can ring my bell
Someone is ringing the temple gong on the hill.. (this is from my cellphone, and is an island in the China Sea where my IT staff went for an outing. About 3 hours from HK)
Southpark Elwin
You can create your own
southpark character. This is me. I actually have a "Spleen Doner" shirt that I had made after I lost my spleen riding bike. (it is really hard to find them when you loose em..)
A morning walk in the UK
Right outside of the place I was staying near SML's UK facility is this great old church.
Hmmm Packaging
At the Hong Kong airport I saw this package. What could it be for? Air freshener? Actually there was a little curled up cat figurine inside. Strange.
Where we live..

We are living in Mah On Shan (ma oh san), really considered 'the boonies'. We are living on the corner of this little bit of
the 'E'.
Red Taxis on HK island
Trying to shoot the delicatessan, but this good too.

A rainy afternoon finds Jenny breaking with tradition and having coffee for
afternoon tea. The Peninsula hotel in Hong Kong.
View from a taxi
Speeding by an interesting place to visit in Dongguan.
Interesting notice
A notice on the wall of a Manufacturing plant in Dong Guan China. The writing on the head says 'Safety'
Worker's Cups
In a Printing and Manufacturing plant in Dong Guan China the workers store their tea cups. I thought this was a nice picture.
We moved to Hong Kong in July '05. Much of this blog is being populated from our camera phones (treo650's) we hope that this helps us keep in touch with our friends who are now so far away!
