lovers locks

In the 'yellow mountains' in China it has become a custom for couples to interlock two padlocks, lock them to the chain rail and throw the keys down the mountain. This symbolizes that they will be joined together forever. If you see more than one padlock locked together this could be a family. Some locks have the couples name and date engraved on them.

What a nice idea! It could take the place of rock stacking in Volcano Park! There are a lot less stacks in the park and along the road near the Kona airport. I miss them , but understand why they need to not be built. I remember Elwins' big book of the beautiful rock stacks. Love, Mom
