Johann, has been staying with us for the summer. He is the son of a friend of ours (and also a friend of ours too). Last year he said to Jenny: "I am going to take Arabic in College", Jenny said "What, are you an idiot? take Mandarin." He did and got A's so we sponsored him to come over here in Asia and use our apartment in Hong Kong as a base of operations. Last weekend was his last day so we took him to the Intercontinental for a 'send off'. Here is his blog post from my Treo 650:
What to say? It's been a hell of a summer...from the killing fields of Cambodia to ritz of the Hong Kong bayside, from the mountains ofYunnan to the bars of Hiroshima. I can't say I've learned anything I can package in a sentence but it definitely has been a pivotal opening chapter in my life. 've made many new friends i'll never see again but as parts of the moments i've lived they''l always be a part of my past and thusly my present. Where I go from here is still pretty obscured but chances are if you're reading this that i'd be honored to share the path. Enough sincerity, though. Let's fuckin' kick it when the time comes. This summer proves that location is a beatable obstacle.
