  Sotheby's

I had an opportunity to do one of the coolest things I have ever done yesterday. Out of the blue the owner and my boss Simon invited me to a Sotheby’s art auction in Hong Kong. I will put some more pictures online. The auction was for fine Chinese paintings.

I love art, and have always been fascinated by Asian ink painting. Every stroke must have purpose, because unlike other mediums, you can’t take a bad stroke away, and you can’t cover a bad stroke up. I can say I appreciated this art.

But Simon not only appreciates art, he chooses paintings that will appreciate. He has a huge collection of many of the works that were offered yesterday, and not one piece went for under $10,000 US. Simon bought three pieces, The highest being $1.5M HKD.

This was something that I never thought I would get to experience, and frankly never knew was so interesting. Why was it interesting? The atmosphere (a buzz), the constant rhythm kept up by the auctioneer, the art, the people, the international culture and the money. Wow… (oh.. notice Simon's choice of a very lucky feng shui number 669)

But what about the children?!? Won't somebody think of the children?!?
